The ‘meh’ type

This post will be more about a certain type of guys, rather than a story of one particular date of mine. It is so, because #10 was the perfect example for the ‘meh’ type. The ‘meh’ type of guys are those … Continue reading

I Do! Do You?

I Do! Do You?

I’m definitely, not loosing track of my failures in dating, but I felt that this special day needed a topical blog!

Every once in four years my specie – I mean women, not moody and neurotic Lithuanians – get a chance to ask their chosen ones: “Will you marry me?” Don’t worry, honey, you won’t be guillotined if you’re not on this page just yet. But if you feel like it’s time to take yours and your prince charming relationship into another level: that’s the right day to make the move!

This tradition came from an Irish legend and although you may have never heard of it, it was quite a thing back in middle ages. It can also be very handy these days if you’re in relationship with some sort ball-less male creature, who thinks that even after ages of being together it’s still not the right time.

So since this day came along I couldn’t help but wonder – yes, I am aware of the fact that I sound totally like Carrie Bradshaw, but who wouldn’t want to – could I propose to my beloved one myself? Could you?

I know it sounds stupid, since I’m not in any possible form of romantic relationships, but who doesn’t enjoy playing an old game called ‘what if..’?

If you would look straight to my soul threw massive pile of covers called ‘self-confidence’, ‘strong personality’, ‘maximalist’, etc. you would see a really passionate, sort of romantic, craving for safety persona, who just really wants to be taken care of. So purposing to a man absolutely doesn’t fit with that picture.

On the other hand, I can only imagine the desperation of women spending her fifth year with an ‘average Joe’, coming to her early-thirties and according to her social profile still in a state of ‘Unmarried’. I mean, none of us are getting any younger, so in this kind of situation I probably may start considering kneeling down and popping the question.

But this leads me to doubt would I want to spend the rest of my life with a man that wasn’t sure how he feels about me enough to propose..? I will sound conservative, but I really believe that it’s something a man, not a woman should do. And even if I would come to a point in a relationship where I’ve been with someone for so long we’d have to either ‘make it or break it’, I’d probably try to find another way to express my feelings.

Anyhow, I sincerely hope that a number of women have heard a cheerful ‘I do’ from their cherished ones today. Meanwhile I’ll just keep on looking for someone to cherish 🙂
